The Italian Unesco Commission has approved the candidacy proposal for the ‘Cerca e cavatura del tartufo: conoscenze e pratiche tradizionali’ (Truffle hunting and quarrying. Traditional knowledge and practices) proposed by the Federation of Italian Truffle Associations and the Cities of Truffles as an intangible cultural heritage.
“The truffle is not a simple luxury item, but the result of an ancestral bond between man, nature and tradition. The recognition will offer us the opportunity to share around the world this ancient practice that today involves 70,000 truffle hunters in Italy” says the President of the Cities of the Truffles, Michele Boscagli.
