The Ministry of Agriculture accepted the request to create the new ‘Prosecco Rosé’ category, which will be available on the international markets from next October. Prosecco Rosé will be made by combining Glera, the classic grape variety used to produce Prosecco, with a percentage of Pinot Noir between 10% and 15%.
According to the Consortium, the pink version will represent in the future a percentage of 10%-20% of total production and will be placed on the market with a higher price than ‘white’ Prosecco DOC.
“There was a need for a confidence injection – says Stefano Zanette, President of the Consorzio Prosecco -. We thank those who helped us to achieve this very important result”.
